Substation Upgrades

Summary

High Energy Service were engaged by Ventia to decommission/replace 13 aged and non-compliant Substations, along with their associated HV Transformers, RMU’s and Main LV Distribution boards. Due to the volume of works required, and need of multiple specialist contractors, a high level of organisation and attention to detail was required for timely and safe completion of works.

Solution

HES sourced new Kiosk-Type HV/LV substations for installation, all equipped for remote operations and SCADA interfacing. Our skilled technicians and operational team engaged and co-ordinated with over 30 specialised contractors to complete non-electrical tasks, including civil construction, asbestos sampling, fencing, surveyance, traffic control and cranage. In depth planning allowed our team of technicians to accurately develop permits, SWMS and methodologies to complete all works safely.

To ensure minimal disruption to daily base operations, this project was scheduled and delivered in staged timeframes. Excellent communication with base personnel ensured area closures and subsequent energisations of the substations were co-ordinated.

The works were completed on time and on budget with no safety issues encountered.
