Summary- MCC800 HV Replacement Project

HES were engaged to conduct both FAT, SAT and HV Cable Jointing works for a new 24 tier HV Switchboard for BHP Finucane Island.

The Perth Based FAT consisted of the testing and commissioning of CT’s, VT’s, HV CB’s, HV Contactors, Earth Testing, Switchboard Insulation Resistance and Hi-pot Testing, in addition to Protection Relay Testing.

Once onsite, HES had a six day shutdown window to complete extensive SAT testing, the removal and changeout of the existing HV Switchboard plus all associated Commissioning, HV Cable Jointing and Terminations to enable this changeover.

Solution

Despite this monumental task, HES were able to complete this work on-budget and 24 hours ahead of schedule. As a result of our prompt, efficient and professional HV Installation and Commissioning capabilities, HES have been asked to complete a further two HV replacement projects, commencing shortly.
