2MVA Transformer Refurbishment

Summary

Transformer arrived with extensive rust damage to tank near two lifting lugs and radiators leaking oil. Client requested all 4 lifting lugs to be certified after rust repairs completed as well as provision of custom bunded bag and skid for return.

Solution

HES completed preliminary electrical tests, rewired instruments and relocated the control cubicle. The oil was drained from the transformer, core removed and tank was sent away for rust mitigation and repair, along with NDT testing of lifting lug welds.

After all rust repairs were complete, new radiators were fitted, along with replacement LV & HV bushings. The tank was then refilled with oil, and the oil filtered and streamlined. The whole unit was repainted and final electrical tests conducted. The completed transformer was placed into the custom bunded bag and transported back to the client on the custom skid.
