SHUTDOWN HV MAINTENANCE

Summary

FMG engaged High Energy Service to complete shutdown works at its Anderson Point facility, with the scale and scope for this job being larger than normal. The shutdown works included multiple maintenance tasks, that included 2x transformer change-outs, trailing cable replacement, relay change-outs, transformer oil filtration, transformer tap changer replacements, alongside major routine maintenance and testing of HV assets.

Solution

For these works to be completed smoothly, thorough planning was undertaken. The HES nominated Supervisor was tasked to conduct a thorough site visit for work area inspection prior to the job, and continuous liaison, planning and co-ordination with FMG site planners and engineers for scope clarification and scheduling processes.

Due to the variety and challenging nature of the works, a total of 27 HES personnel were mobilised. To ensure the best possible outcome, technical specialists in Transformers, Cable Jointing, Engineering and Commissioning were part of the team.

Our extensive test equipment catalogue allowed us to mobilise all required test equipment as well as our 6000/L Transformer Oil Filtration unit.

Technicians worked on rotation through day and night shift to ensure all works were completed, dealing with extreme temperatures and tight scheduled outage times. All works were completed within the assigned timeframe, and with no incident or injuries recorded.
