HV UPGRADE PROJECT
Summary
Williams Electrical contacted High Energy Service after it was discovered that switchgear at the Department of Transport’s Jurien Bay Harbour was non-compliant and dangerous, requiring immediate rectification.
Remediation works required the installation of ABB 33kV RMU, and the removal and replacement of 11kV Long & Crawford switchgear with a new Schneider asset.
Solution
The remote location of the works as well as the scale and intricacies of the scope required thorough planning from HES Project department. This included all equipment and materials for planned tasks, design and submission of ITR’s, Switching Programs and hazard and risk mitigation documentation.
HES were able to able to mobilise two senior technical staff with proven expertise and experience to complete the required scope, often working in challenging weather conditions, including unexpected rain and excessive winds.
Working alongside Williams Electrical Service and Western Power to complete isolations and tie-ins, HES were able to complete the full scope of works ahead of allocated/proposed schedule, on budget and with no incidents.
